TRILLER IS STEPPING UP ITS GAME TO COMPETE WITH TIKTOK

TikTok was banned in India, and the race to replace it has begun. Triller, an American app, was reported to have just hired a former top executive at TikTok, Raj Mishra. They strategically hired Mishra to head their operations in India, as Mishra was the first employee TikTok hired in India in 2017. Since then, Mishra has been their country manager until recently. He was the natural choice for Triller. The focus of Triller in India started after they saw their user base in the country jump from less than a million to about 30 million overnight when TikTok was banned. Yet, Trillisnly of many ne wseeees the potential to capture the 200 million TikTok users India had before the ban. Instagram Reels and a few other apps can also pick up the old TikTok users, but with the new hire of Mishra, Triller might be able to get the most significant piece of the pie. Triller is already contacting the former top Indian TikTok creators to get them to join their app and bring their audiences with them. Something to watch! Kenny Smith got the idea while watching his son play basketball on Instagram live. Smith realized that just because we are amid a pandemic doesn't mean that the development of basketball skills should stop. Smith usually does a summer camp and had to cancel it this year, but decided that there was a way to continue it virtually, inspired by his son on Instagram live. From there, the "Jet Academy" was born. Smith's summer camp is just one way sports have adapted to the new virtual norm. There have been so many things to emerge from the pandemic for sports fans now virtually cheering at games. Many new virtual offers coming out of the pandemic will continue for a while. Many people in the sports industry agree and have been saying they will continue to keep doing many things that have worked for them virtually. Another sign that this pandemic has forever changed us. CHADWICK BOSEMAN’S LAST TWEET IS THE MOST-LIKED TWEET OF ALL TIME

It was a tweet felt around the world. Twitter said that the tweet announcing the death of the Hollywood star is the most liked tweet of all time. The tweet has over 7 million likes and over 3 million retweets. Fans from all around the world came together to mourn the star and show their support. The tweet was that of a black and white photo of Boseman as well as a message confirming his death and giving some details about the situation. The message noted his 4-year battle with colon cancer, shocking the world. He suffered in private. The tween also stated that it was the most significant honor of his career to star in the record-breaking film Black Panther. The previous record was held by Barak Obama when he posted a quote from Nelson Mandela in a photo. We send our condolences to his family. We feel the loss of such a great man. Many of us rewatched Black Panther to feel his presence and honor his work. Rest in peace, Chadwick Boseman. NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY ‘THE SOCIAL DILEMMA’ PROMPTS MANY TO RETHINK SOCIAL PLATFORMS

Social Media users are re-evaluating their Facebook, Instagram, and other social media accounts. This has all been sparked by one of Netflix's newest documentaries, "The Social Dilemma." The show is 90 minutes long and focuses on the downsides of significant tech platforms—many featured whistleblowers from several large platforms like Facebook, Google, Pinterest, Instagram, and others. The show includes many alarming insights into the world of silicon valley and the tech industries' business models from some of these giant companies. One former Facebook executive, Tim Kendall, stated, "...In the shortest time horizon. I'm worried about civil war." The reactions to 'The Social Dilemma' documentary have been ironic, with people posting that they will be deleting apps and turning off notifications for their social media. The show is quickly climbing the ranks to the most viewed show on Netflix in the U.K. and has many supporters claiming that it is the most important documentary of our time. Amongst all the vast amounts of praise and attention, the documentary is gaining critics as well, reporting that the documentary won't affect any social media platform. While the debate is hot from both sides, we love the insight and interpretation the documentary shows into the minds of Silicon Valley elites. CALL OF DUTY LEAGUE FINAL BREAKS ESPORTS RATING RECORD

The Call of Duty tournament broke records with 331,000 views. The five games to-one win by the Dallas Empire over the Atlanta FaZe in the Call of Duty League finals was the most-watched Call of Duty Esports game in the game's history. The previous record in the league's first season peaked at 200,000 views. As is the case for most events, the company had to pivot to a virtual platform, and YouTube was an easy choice, making it easy for the viewers to watch. The league has grown immensely and has over 1 million subscribers on YouTube. The league winners received 1.5 million for winning, a custom throne, and a trophy. There's hope if you are a gamer if you want to make this a career. Keep an eye out for gamers, as their platforms are growing exponentially with this new fandom craze.
