TIKTOK DESCRIBING TEXAS ROADS TO OUTSIDERS GOES VIRAL

July 12, 2020
πŸ“· Image Credit: WFAA πŸ‘† TL;DR A Texan's TikTok making fun of local roads went viral and is a great example of creative content formats capable of going viral! We continue to see trends appear and die with the TikTok app as trends are easier to emerge and quickly die with the fast-paced entertainment design of the application. One video that blew up this week surprised most people, with user @definitely_not_travis explaining how the Road system in Texas works. His charming demeanor caught users off guard when his description of the road system in Texas wasn't what most expected, and the TikTok blew up with likes and views. The video is simply the user in his cowboy hat explaining how the Texas roads work, with a twist. TikTok user @definitely_not_travis explains the North I 35 as a construction zone sign rather than indicating the road it actually is meant to represent. He continues by explaining that the West Interstate 10 sign actually indicates a drag race to the desert and so on. The video is straight-up funny to Texans because insider information ringing a bell of truth is funny stuff. As for the rest of us not from Texas, we can appreciate the local's perception of things because our own towns have quirky attributes too. Relatability at its best. OUTERBANKS MIGHT BE EXPANDING THEIR CAST WITH TIKTOK STARS

July 12, 2020
πŸ“· Image Credit: Moscoop πŸ‘†By: Dipak Kumar TL;DR With rumors of TikTok stars appearing on hit TV shows, the potential for universal mega-stardom is HUGE. Outerbanks had a great first season on Netflix, ending on a major cliffhanger. If you haven't watched it, we recommend it, age-appropriate, of course. Many of their fans are eagerly awaiting the second season. With all the buzz predicting what will happen in season two, there is speculation that Outerbanks is adding TikTok star Addison Rae to the cast for a short stint. Addison Rae has over 49 million followers on Tik Tok, making this move a smart move for both Outerbanks and Ms. Addison Rae. This rumor started at a press conference in June, where they hinted that Addison Rae, Charlie, and Dixie Diamelio might be making an appearance on the Netflix Show next season. To be clear, there are no confirmations from anyone's representatives regarding the rumor. For now, we will continue to keep an eye out and are hopeful to see if some of the biggest stars on TikTok will make the transition to TV entertainment. It just makes sense. HOW TO SET UP A DONATION STICKER ON INSTAGRAM

July 11, 2020
πŸ“· Image Credit: Business Insider πŸ‘†By: Meira Gebel TL;DR Instagram creates a new feature, making donations to charitable Orgs much easier, but there is a catch, you have to meet the requirements to have the feature. Instagram is not all vacation photos and food pictures; there is also a way that users can attempt to help charities that they believe in through the app. While many users are familiar with the ability to provide a link in their bio, there are also lesser-known ways of raising money for causes on Instagram. Donation stickers on Instagram stories or even through Instagram live are a new option that can help raise money for a cause. This donation feature is only allowed for certain nonprofits who must be enrolled and approved to use Facebook Charitable giving Tools, as well as have a valid Instagram Business account. In order to make donations, you must also have your Instagram linked to a verified Facebook account. Once you have all these requirements in place, you are good to go. This is a great way to receive donations directly through the app rather than the link in your bio. Check it out and see if you meet the checklist requirements. NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS HAVE THE UNITED STATES LOOKING AT BANNING THE APP TIKTOK

July 7, 2020
πŸ“· Image Credit: USA Today πŸ‘†By: Dalvin Brown TL;DR There is some speculation that the TikTok app might be collecting user data to harm the United States. TikTok might be banned in the United States due to the potential threat it poses. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States is considering banning TikTok due to concerns with Chinese surveillance. In an interview on Monday, Pompeo said this is an issue that the government is currently aware of and has been looking at for a while. He warned that Americans should be wary of downloading the app as they might be giving personal information to the Chinese government by doing so. The concern stems from TikTok being owned by a Beijing-based company, which has previously stated that they don't send information back to China. However, in December, the Navy warned military personnel against downloading the app on any military devices and urged anyone who had done so to quickly remove the app. The decision to make this announcement was based on a cybersecurity threat assessment but did not elaborate on the specifics of why they consider TikTok to be a potential threat.
