TL;DR Twitter is improving its accessibility and automated captions.
The years of skipping videos on Twitter because you forgot your headphones are over. Twitter is working on adding automated captions for their audio and video posts to increase the accessibility of the app. The feature should be arriving in early 2021. Twitter is moving toward this to help the Twitter community with disabilities. Currently, Twitter is doing trial runs and having people with hearing disabilities and other disabilities fill out surveys testing the new feature. This new feature will be an extension of voice tweets which Twitter first came out in June. It was their voice tweets that encouraged twitter to do automated captions.
Twitter realized that they could do much better, making their app accessible for many in the disabled community by starting an Accessibility Center of Excellence and an Experience Accessibility Team. These two new branches are charged to help Twitter expand the accessibility of its app. Way to go, Twitter!
